Matthew is a native of the Richmond, Virginia. He attended Virginia Military Institute receiving his Bachelor of Arts Degree in English with a minor in Spanish. During his time at VMI, he was a member of Sigma Tau Delta, Phi Sigma Iota, and Who’s Who Among American Colleges and Universities. After graduating, he attended the College of William and Mary School of Law and received his Juris Doctor Degree in 2010.

After graduating law school, Matthew clerked for The Honorable Herbert C. Gill, Jr. of the Chesterfield County Circuit Court.

In 2011, Matthew worked for Spencer LLP engaging in complex civil litigation matters including products liability, intellectual property and discrimination cases. In 2013, he joined Gordon, Dodson, Gordon & Rowlett where he focused his practice on criminal/traffic defense, personal injury, family law, estate planning and civil litigation.

Matthew is licensed to practice law in the Commonwealth of Virginia and the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia.

Matthew is the Vice President of the VMI Club of Richmond and has volunteered with numerous organizations around the Richmond metro area, including, but not limited to, the John Marshall Foundation, Tech for Troops Project and many others.
